Professionally I Am…

To begin, I am a licensed physical therapist, as well as an expert in integrative pelvic floor therapies in the field of women’s health. I developed my expertise in diagnosing and treating pelvic pain by helping over ten thousand women at my NYC-based healing center Renew Physical Therapy since 2005. At my healing center, I pioneered the use of integrative modalities like Maya Abdominal Massage, Low Level Laser Therapy, Sound Healing, and Andean Energy Techniques with traditional evidence-based physical therapy in ways that had never been done. It has since become very mainstream to talk about integrative approaches, and I am proud to say I have been there in those trenches long before it was a hot topic.

I also spent years as an adjunct professor at Hunter College in New York teaching pelvic floor techniques to 3rd year Doctoral level physical therapy students. I was always frustrated that there was not a broad level of teaching about pelvic floor issues in schools. Even my MD, Doula, Midwife, Nurse, and Fitness Professional friends tell me they have not received any formal training either. So you can see why I have so passionately pushed to get the PelvicPainrelief.com online school up and running!

International Best-Selling Author

I am the author of five books, four on the topic of pelvic health, and I have lectured nationally on the topic of women’s health. After suffering from pelvic floor dysfunction myself after the birth of my daughter, I have made it my life’s mission to help women and men overcome pelvic floor dysfunction, and also to educate professionals on the right mix of evidence-based and integrative techniques to help patients achieve lifelong health and wellness.

My overall belief for you is that the doctor lives within each of you and all you need is a coach to guide you along the process.

Personally, I Am…

Right now I am putting all of my attention and focus into letting everyone know about my just completed online school for patients and professionals, www.PelvicPainRelief.com. It has been a dream of mine for 15 years since I began as a fitness trainer doing partner pregnancy training all the way through opening my healing center Renew PT.

I was so surprised by how little information was being taught to professionals and how many patients wanted empowering information but could not find it. Even when I was back in physical therapy school I did not get training.

And now, fast forward to 2021, I have a platform to reach my goal to help 1 million women heal from pelvic floor dysfunction by teaching women’s health professionals and patients who have the “I Can Do It” mindset.

Right Now, I Am…

I am a lover of all things outdoors. I guess after living in New York my entire life I have really come to appreciate the quiet sound of the breeze or the sound of the wings of a hummingbird. I recently got the chance to heal a friend’s emu named Morton… He got spooked by a coyote howl and got tangled up in a fence. He could not walk and it looked bad for him. I asked him where does it hurt Morton? and he immediately used his beak to point to his hip! As if to say “finally someone is listening to me!” I am happy to say Morton is doing great and is walking again…he even has a new girlfriend!

I am also passionate about my family. My daughter Ella and my husband David are into doing things together and keeping close. It is a challenge in our super-connected world for the kids to filter all that is coming at them, so we work to try to have analog time (although it doesn’t always work and we end robo-watching some shows from time to time!) We just did our 9th Polar Bear Plunge at Coney Island, followed by a 4 hour trip to the Russian steams.

Praise

I have been fortunate to have been able to help get the word out about all things pelvic floor. It has been an honor over the years to be able to carry the torch and really build awareness of this topic that affects up to 30 million women in the US alone.
Isa has brought European ideas to American women and I think it will definitely help them get their pelvic floors back together and prevent them from having incontinence, and pain, enjoy sex and avoid pelvic pain during sex.

I am blown away by the depth and the complexity of the material in Isa’s pelvicPainRelief.com school. Any of the subject matter she goes into from anatomy to functionality to palpation to exercise, she does with a truly expert lens. I say expert, I rarely use the word expert. We’re all experts in something these days. Isa truly is a pelvic floor expert. I encourage you to use the expertise which she is offering because she’s taking not only profound academic knowledge but also decades of experience at many different levels and giving it to you.
